Trophy Room

I'm designing a trophy Room with some Trophies I designed some time ago. I'm using Sketchfab to fast visualize the idea. I improved the lights and textures on my Trophy Room. I still have to fix some trophies that have some meshes faces flipped.

VR Room logo

Around a year ago ago I did a logo for a VR product. Coincidentally, there are two or three companies using a similar name. Posting this maybe can help inspire something to them.

Visor 3D model

I posted on SketchFab my prototype for the fold-able cardboard VR viewer. The animation shows how it would fold. Still a prototype, work in progress.

Using SketchFab

I have been a SketchFab observant for a while. They surprise me every time with the amount of content that modeler artists are posting every day. I'm starting to post my models as well; didn't have time before, but now with the push of the virtual reality, having a 3D collection is more relevant than ever.

SketchFab also has a view mode for VR, which it was its natural progression; still, needs adjustments on the navigation, but the solely fact that it can be used straight to VR (Google cardboard) makes it incredible compelling for content creators like me.

SketchFab is another "dream come true", similar to the 3D printing, but even more impact because it doesn't require physical materials therefore no contamination. I'm just waiting for my DayDreamsmartphone or the Lenovo Phab2 to have positional tracking...

For now just updating eagerly a 3D collection:

Oculus using lenticular lenses (Fresnel)

I knew it. They would have to use those lenticular lenses (Fresnel lenses). It was very effective on the Wearality Sky goggles, so how was possible that they wouldn't use it? I know it and I predicted, the Fresnel lenses not only are lighter but also gives a 150 degrees FOV.

VR Mobile favorite setup

So far, after testing several VR mobile systems, still this is my favorite setup:

Wearality Sky foldable lenticular viewer, with a flat wing cap, and a bluetooth controller with the factor of the wiimote (found it on amazon).

- It's practical.
- Foldable, transportable on a pocket.
- The lenticular lenses allows a FOV of 150 degrees.
- Holds very well with the cap.
- a Nexus6 or a Samsung Galaxy7 can be hold by the clamps with no problem.

VR cardboard apk's to download

Some VR cardboard .apk's files to test. Still, work in progress.

Garage - touch on the screen to walk

Condo (requires gamepad/controller to walk around)

Trophy Room (requires gamepad/controller to walk around)

Or, here also the prototypes link.

My own "cardboard" visor

With the need of having portable VR, even more: pocket-size portable VR viewer, I had to design a bunch of viewers. This is one of the ideas I'm working with right now. 3D printed and it works pretty neat. Historical facts: I found around 5 to 10 patents of "stereoscopes" that are dated from 1950 - 1960 - 1970 including the venerable "Viewmaster".

VR Chair collection

I'm starting to collect pictures of chairs that are suitable for VR.

I found this "desk" chair very interesting to take a spin. If you see at the feet of the chair there are small wheels that helps to spin on 360 degrees.

This stool from SteelCase seems very practical for VR. The base its actually conical or spherical, whcih allows the user to spin easily on his axis.

Here the link to the SteelCase store:

Using Samsung Gear VR

My first impressions using the Samsung GearVR version 2. I had the opportunity to try the V1 once. This one is more streamlined, lighter, easier to use.

One concern: I'm not able to load cardboard content into Samsung GearVR, which I think is a setback, since we are just at the beginning of this VR trend and the way to make it popular is to keep an open ecosystem for cross-polinization of content.

The resolution is great and also the FPS makes the main menu a smooth experience; also tried the Marvel's Avengers experience which was great (short though).

Garage VR for cardboard - .APK for download

Mi garage VR test has been updated.

Here the link to download the Garage VR .apk file

- Auto walk system added, when the user touch in the smartphone screen, the player inside the demo will move to the pointers position.

- Menu buttons at the foot of the player: recenter, switch VR Mode/Normal mode, Reset.

- The 3D meshes still need some optimization.

New VR Viewer foldable from DODOcase

We have been talking about this: an affordable (could improve though) fold-able, VR viewer. This is the way to get into an extremely easy access to casual VR for any user. Hopefully will take the curve of success of Wii from 2006.

Spell To Rescue - Dev Blog

I helped my friend Lars on his mobile game for kids. I did the interface design, still need some work on the colors. We both collaborated doing art for the game. The art is inspired on Charley Harper illustrations from the 70's.
